Tom Watson (born September 4, 1949) is an American golfer who plays on the Champions Tour.

Watson, ranked higher than Nicklaus once, was one of the leading players in the world, occupying eight major championships and lifting his name on the PGA Tour money list five times. According to McCormack’s World Golf Rankings, he was the best player in the world from 1978 to 1982. he once was second in those rankings behind Seve Ballesteros by only the barest of margins. Tom replaced the number one, Jack Nicklaus during this period and achieve his top at several his major victories. And their challenge to each other and friendship have added to improve golf’s popularity that time.

 

 

 During his prime, Watson may have been one of the most complete players ever in golf field For a man of average size (5 ft9 in, 160 pounds), he had abundant length coupled with sufficient accuracy, played aggressively, developed a superlative short game, and was a skilled and confident putter. Watson was renowned as the best bad-weather golfer of his era, and displayed much of this gritty talent in the difficult, changeable conditions of the British Open.
